Orlando

We were in Orlando last week. We had an, um, interesting time. The vacation started out great with a smooth flight down and the kids settling right into our condo. Monday was fun with time at the pool and shopping for the girls. Then it started to go downhill. Monday night Madeline was up all night. She was acting fine, so we thought she was just excited about being in Florida. Come Tuesday morning, we realized this was not excitement as she had a high fever and could barely move off the couch. She vomited later and seemed better, so we thought it was behind us. She couldn't seem to shake the fever, though, and when she woke up the next morning with a rash all over her torso and cheeks, we knew we had a problem. After 3 hours at the Urgent Care clinic in lovely Lake Buena Vista we found out she had strep throat and scarlet fever. So we got her some antibiotics and headed home to recover. Fortunately on Thursday she was feeling well enough that she could venture out with Mamma and Papa to Downtown Disney. She didn't even mind that it rained the whole time. I think she was just happy to be out of the condo! Friday was a beautiful day, but of course that meant it was time to come home. It wasn't the vacation we had planned, but you never know what you're going to get when travelling with small children!
